The Six Pack

87: Life is a Highway

  • Motor City here we come! This episode features our NYC to Detroit road trip adventure, courtesy of the fine folks over at GM Diversity. Cruising in our brand new Chevy Sonic, we clocked in over 600 miles on a 10-hour drive (with two stops at McDonald’s). In Detroit we hit up the biggest car show around, the North American International Auto Show and got a taste for a revitalized city, thanks in part to GM reclaiming its spot as the world’s #1 automaker.
  • While at the Auto Show we got a tour from GM’s Associate Director of Competitor Intelligence (aka Chief Spy), Adam Bernard. Adam broke down the who’s who and the what’s what at the show for us and also told us about how GM is reaching out to its gay employees and the greater LGBT community at large. We also spoke to deputy editor at Automobile Magazine Joe DeMatio about the hot cars for 2012 and beyond.
  • Trending this week: Wearing headphones might kill you, people! Please, for the love of life, keep your head up while walking down the street. Also, America is becoming a nation of alcoholics. Are we drinking away all our problems? And finally, are you an up-and-coming weatherman in South Africa? You may want to listen carefully, otherwise an incorrect forecast could land you in the slammer.
  • For more about our partnership with GM Diversity and to check out the highlights from our road trip, click here. And remember: Life is a highway, we wanna entertain you all night long! Listen in now.

86: ¡Es Justin Bieber!

  • Hola, amigos y amigas! We spent all week in the the paradise known as Isla Mujeres, a tiny island off of Cancun. The fine folks at Palace Resorts served up some amazing all-inclusive food, booze, sun, and fun in the land of the ancient Mayans.
  • Being on a working vacation didn’t stop us from finding out what was trending in the news: We’re happy to report that Cancun is about to become only the second place in Mexico where gay marriage will be legal. So if our adventure isn’t enough to get you down here, maybe finding the man (or woman) of your dreams will do it.
  • With the mystery of 2012 firmly in our minds we thought it would be a great opportunity to talk to Ranae Holland, the resident skeptic over at Animal Planet’s new show, “Finding Bigfoot.” Does Bigfoot exist? We’ll find out…kinda.
  • And finally we chat it up with Octavio Favela, the head of LGBT outreach for Palace Resorts. The company is looking to become a premier place for gays to stay, and Favela tells us how they’re going to do it.
  • Oh, and we got henna tattoos. That’s right, we’re bad-ass! Sit back, relax and enjoy the island adventure we call The Six Pack.

85: Pikachu Tattoo

  • Ed Begley Jr. helps us kick off 2012 in total green style. He was green way before it was cool and now has his own reality show because of it…not to mention a boatload of TV shows and movies under his belt.
  • In Trending this week, we debate Gawker’s “pop culture resolutions” as well as offer our take on SOPA. Don’t know what SOPA is? No, it’s not a new type of soap! Trust us, it’s important and you need to know about it. We also bring back an oldie but a goodie in ‘Craigslist Missed Connections Set to Love Songs.’ With the holidays having come and gone we found some missed connections that really capture the holiday spirit. Is your unrequited love in here?
  • Since it’s a new year, we’re out with the old and in with the new! We’ve got a new sound and a new announcement. New year, new you, new Six Pack. Go!

83: A Reality, Reality World

  • Brad Goreski and Levi Crocker join us on a reality-star packed version of The Six Pack! First, we chat it up with Brad about his new Bravo show, ‘It’s a Brad, Brad World’ and dig a little deeper into the fallout between him and Rachel Zoe. Is Brad ready for his own series, and can we get him in a pair of Bonobos? You’ll find out!
  • Next up, it’s Levi Crocker from Logo’s ‘A-List.’ This is one Texas cowboy not afraid of the bright lights and  big city. He holds nothing back when talking about his distaste for Ann Coulter and reveals why he holds no love for the new Flaming Saddles bar in NYC. Did they kick him out for being a real cowboy?
  • Trending in this episode: Did you know that if you have an STD people might be able to sniff it out of you? A new study confirms it. And if you’re stalking anyone these days there is a new clinic just for you. The holiday season is upon us, so catch up on your shopping and catch up on your Six Pack! Note: If you trample any people we cannot be held legally responsible.

82: Moving Merchandise

  • High Pitch Mike of SiriusXM’s Howard Stern show (you’ve heard of it, right?) joins us for an all-in-the family episode of The Six Pack. Mike talks about what it was like to come out on-air to Howard, millions of listeners, and the whole cast and crew. Can Mike help us get on the other side of that door at SiriusXM? The jury is still out!
  • We bring back an oldie, but a goodie, with Straight List, Gay Twist… the “bro edition.” Are first dates the same for gay dudes and straight dudes? (Probably not, or we’d have to call it Straight List, No Twist.)
  • Our music track this week comes from Penguin Prison (pictured above right). Be sure to check out the video for “Don’t F*ck With My Money” here - it was taped at Occupy Wall Street! Speaking of music, in an effort to class up the operation, we went to the legitimate theater last week and saw the musical Lysistrata Jones. It was a basketball-filled, pop-n-lock dancing spectacular. Wanna check it out? Get tickets here
  • The turkey has been eaten, the stuffing has been stuffed. Now unbuckle those pants and give thanks for The Six Pack.
